Addiction can take away so much, often beginning at a young age. That's why we've teamed up with our local community college to offer classes for earning your GED or continuing education, as well as opportunities in trade schools. We believe that a key to sustained recovery is building a life that brings you pride. We're fortunate to have the support of numerous local employers who champion our participants, providing job placements with livable wages, even for those with a criminal history. They strongly believe in second chances!
Your lived experience matters, and who better to guide you through early recovery than someone who has walked a similar path? Our peer-led group and individual sessions offer invaluable support, adding essential lifelines to your recovery network. We strongly believe that the peer relationship is among the most powerful tools at every stage of recovery. Join us to strengthen your journey toward lasting wellness and support each other along the way.
Access to transportation is a crucial need in rural Arkansas, especially when it comes to getting to work, appointments, or meetings—a barrier that has hindered many in their path to recovery. We recognize the challenge: it's not enough to connect you to resources if you can't access them. While our goal is to eventually provide a vehicle and driver, for now, we've rallied a dedicated team of volunteers who are committed to your success. They'll ensure you reach your destinations promptly. Situated centrally in town, our organization is within walking distance of many places, offering an additional option for accessibility.
Embarking on a journey toward life change can be challenging when faced with physical or mental health difficulties. That's why our priority is assisting you in finding the ideal provider to support your path towards becoming the best version of yourself. We believe in working alongside you, empowering you to steer your recovery journey. After all, you are the expert on yourself. Our role is to walk beside you, offering options and forging connections, so you can focus on what truly matters—your recovery. We maintain a comprehensive list of specialized healthcare professionals, including physicians, dentists, psychiatrists, therapists, counselors, social workers, and more, each exceptional in their field and ready to collaborate with you.
Addressing legal matters is often a crucial step before moving forward in life and towards recovery. At The Illumination Foundation, we have a successful history of collaborating with courts, probation and parole officers, attorneys, and law enforcement to assist you in meeting compliance requirements. We provide progress reports, conduct regular randomized drug testing, facilitate community service arrangements, and establish payment schedules for fines and associated costs. Our aim is to support you in navigating these legal aspects, paving the way for a brighter future and successful recovery.
Beyond education and legal compliance, we recognize that recovery involves enhancing overall quality of life. Upon admission, we conduct a comprehensive interview to understand you better and tailor our support to your needs. Our array of resources extends beyond the core, offering services such as anger management, parenting classes, financial literacy, time and resource management, trauma-informed care, and medication management, among others. We believe in a holistic approach, addressing various facets of life to empower you on your journey towards sustained wellness and personal growth.
In the past several years, reentry has emerged as a major issue at the national, state & local levels. The incarceration and return of a large number of individuals, with their associated public health concerns, affects many neighborhoods already plagued by high crime rates & poverty. The majority of the inmates in our jails and prisons will return to the communities that they came from, poorly equipped to deal with family, work or the stresses of daily life. Reentry is a community concern that affects us all.
Our mission is to provide opportunities to incarcerated individuals and motivate them to make crucial life changes to improve their overall quality of life and to advance the health and welfare of our community, as a whole.
We utilize evidence-based processes and strive to develop authentic, lasting connections with each participant. By initiating a strengths-based & person-centered approach, we empower individuals to share in the decision making and actively collaborate in their recovery plan. We understand that each person has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change. Our passion for this work is personal and reflective of our own lives as formerly incarcerated individuals who have now become productive and contributing members of society. We are people in long-term recovery and we have overcome the barriers that once clouded our existence.
Through partnerships with several amazing agencies, we are doing our part to combat substance use disorder, criminogenic behavior and reduce recidivism in Union County. As Reentry Specialists in Union County Jail, we're in the unique position to begin working with individuals while incarcerated and carrying that relationship throughout the continuity of care. To be effective, there must be strong community connections, no one agency can provide the full scope of care that a returning person will need to be successful. Our power is found within our partnerships. If you are interested in this work, please contact us. There is a place for you!
